How to judge when the brake pads should be replaced and how to replace the brake pads

Most brake pads are made of iron, which is easy to rust, especially after rain. At this time, you will hear the hiss of friction when you step on the brake. This sound is normal for a short time, but if it is accompanied for a long time, the car owner will have to replace it. Because this phenomenon has shown that the wear of the brake pads has exceeded the limit. If it continues, it will affect the brake disc, and the hidden danger will increase after a long time.

Predict the situation through sound.
2. Brake pad wear
If each vehicle travels at different distances, the wear of the brake pads will be different. When the brake pads become thinner from the thickness, the braking effect will obviously be greatly reduced. Note that the thickness of new brake pads is generally 1. About 5cm, once worn down, there is only 0. When the thickness is about 3cm, it should be replaced in time, so it should be tested regularly to avoid affecting the driving safety.
3. Replace via the warning light on the instrument panel.
Now all vehicles are basically equipped with such a function that the brake warning light on the instrument panel will light up when there is a problem with the brake pads. At this time, the driver should be alert, check and replace the brake pads in time. Compared with other methods, this method is obviously much more convenient.
4. Judge according to the reaction degree of the brake.
The thickness of the brake pads will have a significant contrast to the braking effect. When the car owner brakes, you might as well experience it. The feeling of stepping on the brake when buying a new car is completely different from that when driving a car for a certain distance. You will notice that the latter has to step deeper to stop. This means that the brake pads are thinner. The car should pay attention to whether to replace them.
Replacement method of automobile brake pads:
Step 1: Check
Before replacing the brake pads, the first step is to check the brake fluid position. When replacing the brake pads, the oil in the brake fluid path will be pushed back to the top, so if the brake fluid level is high, the oil will overflow. If this happens, it is necessary to unscrew several oil absorbing papers on the upper cover pad to avoid oil leakage.
In addition to checking the brake fluid, it is necessary to further check the condition of the brake discs and pads. Check whether the brake disc is scratched and whether the brake disc reaches the replacement thickness.
Step 2: Remove the brake caliper.
After checking the condition of the brake disc and brake pad, you can start to replace the brake pad. First, you need to remove the circlip, because there is an irregular steel wire circlip on the disc of the disc brake, which is used to fix the outer brake pad with the brake caliper. The removal process is also relatively simple. You can remove it with a common "straight" screwdriver. However, it should be noted that the installation position and method of the circlip are different for different models, so more attention should be paid to facilitate reassembly.
After removing the clamping spring, remove the two fixing bolts of the brake caliper from the inside of the brake caliper, and then replace the brake pad. In addition, it should be noted that the location and removal method of fixing bolts are different for different vehicles. For example, some models are fixed with two iron pins. Pay more attention when replacing them.
Step 3: Replace the membrane.
After removing the brake caliper, the brake caliper can be removed and replaced with a new one. This step is relatively simple. However, when replacing a new part, pay attention to the position of the new part and align it with the hole position of the fixing bolt to facilitate installation.
Install a new part, tighten the circlip, screw in the fixing bolt, and replace the brake pad. It is almost ready. However, it is necessary to check the position of the brake pads and brake discs again to see if there is friction or other abnormal conditions.
Step 4: Step on the brake and install the wheel.
In fact, the new brake pads can not be regarded as a success. You can drive with confidence. We also need to enter the car and step on the brake pedal several times (usually about 3 to 5 times). The purpose is to drive the piston of the brake cylinder through the brake, squeeze the brake pad and reset it. In addition, check whether the brake oil pump works normally.
After the inspection, you can install the wheels, tighten the fixing bolts and replace the brake pads.
